There are numerous universities in Abu Dhabi that are open to both local and foreign students alike, most of which are overseen by The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) and The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). These universities tend to be sorted into two categories, government funded/state institutions, which are free for eligible national students and the private institutions that are open to all fee paying nationalities. Fees will vary from institution to institution and the chosen program of study.
The standard of faculty, teaching and academic standards at the various schools in Abu Dhabi are generally quite high, and there are a wealth of programs to choose from. The teaching staff of all institutions tend to be multinational and English speaking as English is the main language of instruction. However the prospective student may also be expected to have proficiency in Arabic for the state schools.
The quality and type of facilities such as accommodation, sport and student support centres can vary from campus to campus.
